Built for performance. Supported for two years. Symbyote Systems high performance motor controllers are covered against eligible hardware and manufacturing defects, with regional warranty support where available.
We verify the cause of the problem, resolve configuration or integration issues where possible, and replace a controller when a covered hardware fault is confirmed. We do not use technical fine print as a reason to reject a genuine manufacturing defect.
Symbyote Systems motor controllers are covered by a 2-year limited hardware warranty from the documented date of delivery. The warranty applies to eligible products purchased directly from Symbyote Systems or from an authorised Symbyote Systems dealer or distributor.
Proof of purchase and the product serial number may be required. Warranty registration is not required. Warranty periods for communication modules, displays, throttles, harnesses and other accessories may differ and will be stated on the individual product page. Custom engineering and made-to-order products may have separate warranty terms in the quotation, invoice or project agreement.
If a Symbyote Systems motor controller is dead on arrival or has a verified manufacturing or covered hardware defect within 30 calendar days of delivery, Symbyote Systems will normally provide a replacement controller rather than repairing the original controller first.
A basic technical diagnosis and warranty verification may be required before replacement is approved. The faulty controller must be returned to Symbyote Technologies LLP or an authorised regional warranty partner when requested. Where the same controller model is unavailable, an equivalent replacement or another appropriate remedy may be offered.
If a controller develops a verified covered hardware fault during the remaining warranty period, Symbyote Systems will review the fault and provide the appropriate warranty resolution.
For an approved controller hardware failure, Symbyote Systems will normally provide a replacement controller where replacement stock and authorised regional warranty support are available. The faulty controller is recovered for technical inspection, failure analysis and repair at an authorised facility. Where regional replacement is not available, return and warranty instructions will be provided based on the customer’s country and available service options.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by:
We assess the cause of the failure. Using third-party components or supported controller settings does not automatically cancel the complete warranty. Damage caused by an incompatible component, incorrect installation, unsafe configuration or unauthorised repair is not covered.
Using the supported VESC-compatible configuration and tuning workflow does not automatically void the warranty. Customers may configure supported parameters within the published operating limits.
Damage caused by excessive battery current, excessive phase current, over-voltage, unsafe motor parameters, unsupported firmware modifications or operation outside published electrical or thermal limits is not covered. Configuration files, fault logs or diagnostic information may be requested.
Racing, competition and performance use do not automatically void the warranty. Damage caused by operating outside published electrical, thermal or mechanical limits is not covered. The controller must be correctly selected, installed and cooled for the intended duty cycle.
The supplied or approved Symbyote Systems wiring harness is the recommended supported installation method. Damage caused by incorrect wiring, modified pinouts or an incompatible harness is not covered.
The complete vehicle electrical system must use protection appropriate to its battery voltage, current and application. Depending on the system, this may include:
Customers can contact Symbyote Systems Support or an authorised Symbyote Systems dealer or regional warranty partner. To start a claim, provide:
Additional technical information is requested only where required for diagnosis.
Step 1 — Report the problem. Contact Symbyote Systems Support or an authorised regional warranty partner. Eligible controllers purchased from the website or an authorised dealer can enter the warranty process.
Step 2 — Product and warranty verification. We verify the purchase information, product model, serial number and warranty period.
Step 3 — Basic technical diagnosis. We check whether the issue may be related to configuration, wiring, motor setup, sensors, CAN communication, firmware, connected equipment or controller hardware.
Step 4 — Warranty return or regional inspection. If a controller hardware fault is suspected, the customer receives return or inspection instructions. Where regional support is available, the controller may be sent or delivered to the authorised partner in that region.
Step 5 — Inspection and warranty decision. The controller may be checked for physical damage, connector damage, water ingress, reverse-polarity evidence, electrical stress, thermal damage, configuration issues and internal hardware failure.
Step 6 — Resolution. A covered hardware defect is approved for replacement or another applicable warranty remedy. Configuration or integration problems receive technical guidance. If the claim is not covered, we explain the reason and available paid options where practical.
Where authorised regional warranty support is available, eligible warranty claims can be handled locally. This applies to eligible products purchased directly from the Symbyote Systems website or from an authorised dealer.
An authorised regional partner may receive the controller, verify the serial number, perform basic diagnosis, inspect the unit, coordinate with engineering and provide an approved replacement from available regional warranty stock. Customers should not send a controller internationally unless instructed. The original seller’s legal obligations and mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Contact Symbyote Systems or an authorised regional partner before shipping a controller. For a verified covered warranty claim, the applicable shipping arrangement will be confirmed based on the customer’s country and available regional support. This may include regional return instructions, a return label, arranged collection or pre-approved standard tracked shipping reimbursement. Approval is required before purchasing expensive express return shipping.
If a claim is found not covered, applicable return, repair or shipping costs may be the customer’s responsibility. Any paid costs are communicated before paid work proceeds. International shipments must follow the provided customs and return instructions.
A warranty replacement does not automatically restart a new 2-year Symbyote Systems commercial warranty period. The replacement controller continues under the remaining period of the original warranty, unless applicable law requires additional or different rights.
Products purchased from an authorised Symbyote Systems dealer are eligible for warranty support subject to these terms. Customers may contact the authorised dealer or Symbyote Systems Support. Where another authorised regional partner is better positioned to handle the claim, the customer may be directed there.
Symbyote Systems motor controllers are components intended for integration into electric vehicle and motor-control systems. The customer, vehicle builder or system integrator is responsible for correct controller selection, battery and motor compatibility, wiring, electrical protection, cooling, mechanical installation, controller configuration and complete system validation.
This 2-Year Limited Hardware Warranty is a commercial warranty provided in addition to consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or reduced. Where applicable local law provides additional, longer or different rights or remedies, those rights remain available.
